We are Getting Married at Casa Creando Olas. A house that sits right on the beautiful, deserted beach of La Saladita, in Los Llanos, a little surfing town about 45 minutes northwest of Zihuatanejo.
AIRPORT = IXTAPA ZIHUATANEJO INTERNATIONAL
Alaska Airlines flies direct form Los Angeles - otherwise there are many many flights via Mexico City daily
RENTAL CARS
The name brand companies all offer rentals at ZIH. Prices are fair, but they do often add on a lot of other insurances.
I also have worked with a local guy who has a more eclectic selection of cars (some bigger older funky stuff for surfers etc..)However, his company is a bit more loose, so don’t use if that makes you anxious. Click here for Johny Ca$h Rental (or i can connect you)
TAXIS
Taxis are all very well regulated and are easy to access. You pay for your destination at the airport and then they assign you a taxi, so there is no confusion. Taxis are also easy to call in town, to go places as need be.
FYI : it should be around $70 to Saladita
If you are not renting a car, please touch base with me as we may get shuttles from airports on the days that a lot of people are arriving.
DO YOU NEED A CAR
The Simper Answer is “no”, but that doesn’t mean you don’t want one.
Cars allow you to visit other towns and surf spots, but by no means is a car necessary.
DIRECTIONS
Saladita is about a 35-minute drive from the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport.
Hopefully your airbnb or hotel can provide a Google Maps link for driving from the airport
Doesn’t hurt also to recommend download an offline map of the area on the Google Maps app on your phone to ensure you can use the maps if service gets spotty * (however service is quite good until you get to the beach)
Specific directions from the ZIH airport:
Drive North on Highway Mexico 200 (the only road out of the airport) and follow “t signs” to Ixtapa/Lazaro Cardenas.
As you leave Zihuatanejo, the highway splits and goes up the hill heading out of town. At the top of the hill, bear RIGHT following the signs to Lazaro Cardenas (straight would take you to Ixtapa).
Following the signs to Lazaro Cardenas, you will pass the village of Lagunillas. There will be a sign for “La Saladita” this is NOT “Playa Saladita” where we are located. Keep driving. Continue on the highway until the 35km road marker. You will also pass the town of Troncones.
After the Los Llanos bridge “Puente Los Llanos” take a left into the little town of Los Llanos. It turns to the right at the mercado PATI, and continues past the church and goes downhill slightly as you drive out of town. (you turn right before the basketball court)
There is a sign to Playa La Saladita on the right side as you head out of Los Llanos towards the beach.
From here its going to be slightly different per house, but its a very small town and wont be too tricky
